This book helped me a lot in clearing CAT and reaching to IIM. The inspiration of creating an interactive platform (QuickerMaths.com) came from this book. Square (also called perfect square) is an integer that is the square of an integer; in other words, it is the product of some integer with itself. So, for example, 9 is a square number, since it can be written as 3 × 3.

How to find the square of any number?

To apply this method you should know squares of 1 to 25 by heart. You can refer to this table to learn the same.

For finding square of any number between 26 to 75

Step 1. Find the difference between 50 and the number you want to square.

Scenario 1: If the number to be squared is greater than 50

Step 2. Add that many 100s to 2500 (which is the square of 50)

Step 3. Then add the square of the difference to the result of step 1

Scenario -2: If the number is less than 50

Step 2. Subtract that many 100s to 2500.

Step 3. Then add the square of the difference to the result of step 1

Example

Find out the Square of 67.

Step 1. Difference of 67 and 50 = 67-50 = 17
Step 2. This number is greater than 50. So add 1700 to 2500 = 4200
Step 3. Add square of 17 to step 2.

Answer = 4200+ 289 = 4489

Alternative method of calculating the square of a number:

Since, 67-50 = 17

67^2

We will be getting answer in 2 parts; see below – right hand side gives you tens and units digit. Left hand side gives you the remaining digits.

= 25 + 17 | (17)^2 ( | denotes separation )

= 42 | ₂89 (17^2 is 289. The 2 shown in subtext will be carried over and added to left hand side)

= 4489

How to Manage Stress before Examination?

• Take a piece of paper and list down the main reasons of your stress and anxiety. Next to each problem, write possible solutions.  Take a break and discuss with your parents and (if possible) your teachers your fears and doubts
• Create a schedule – organize your time and prepare for the exams.
• Do your exam revisions with your friends. You will get to know few things which you might have missed.
• Test your knowledge with friends. Meet them and try asking questions to each other.

How to beat Examination Fear?

• Learn to face the exams. Shed away any fear of failure. Positive thinking is highly beneficial as it removes most of the stress out of your head.

Attempt a mental representation of the actual conditions that cause you stress in detail. When you do this exercise, you will notice that the more you imagine and visualize the exams, the more familiar they will seem to you.

• When you can deal with your fears in your imagination, you can deal with them in reality as well.

Can the study environment affect stress?

A conducive study environment will definitely help to remove a lot of stress from you.  So organize your study environment appropriately.

• Create a pleasant environment without strong lighting and noise.
• Make sure that the room has enough fresh air.

However, after more than a year and with an employee force of more than fifteen, those seem to be times long gone.

Speaking to yourstory.in about the edge that Fireup has over other training institutes, the young entrepreneur explains at length the extensive research that they put into formulating every single question and its explanation. With a broad smile, he says technology-friendliness is their key differentiator. Patawari explains the way each paper comes with real-time analysis along with the individual score. However, now a successful and proud entrepreneur, he says, “The learning from starting my own venture has been tremendous, which no job could have given me in such short span of time.” This learning and freedom to make his own choices are what kept him going. He says perseverance was his mantra to succeed as an entrepreneur.

The B-plan for 2010 for this start-up is to increase their service range to the other competitive exams. Fireup is also planning to start an institution that will provide guidance to school and college students undertaking various courses under one umbrella.

On an ending note, Patawari says every dream is at least worth a try. Your degree is an insurance that will cushion you in case things don’t click. Also, he says, it’s a good time to try your luck as the stakes are much lower now than perhaps they would be half a decade from now. The mantra to success that he wishes to share with all aspiring entrepreneurs is perseverance.
