Speeding Away

The drive from Oakland to Pinewood was a tricky one. I covered the uphill distance of 70 miles at 35 miles per hour. The return journey from Pinewood to Oakland was downhill, and I managed to drive at 63 miles per hour. What was my average speed for the entire journey?

  1. yes Anish is correct

  2. Anish is correct:

Average Speed = Total Distance / Total Time
    = (70+70)/(2+1.11111)
    = 45 mph

  3. (39+63)/2 = 98/2 = 49 miles / hr
