Age Puzzle

If you are 12 years or over:

Write down your age.

Reverse the figures.

So, if your age is 13, reversing the figures gives 31.

My friend asked me this question: “my grandmother’s age is a perfect square. Also, it is equal to the difference the square of my father’s age and the square of my mother’s age. My father is one year older than my mother. Can you tell me how old my mother is?”

Extra Baggage

When I met Arati, Bharati and Chitra, their respective ages (in years) were in the ratio 5 : 2 : 1 . Their ages in years now are in the ratio of 10 : 7 : 6 . The sum of the ages is 90 years more than the sum of the ages when I first met them. How old are the three women now?

A Question of Age

Last winter I was in the United Kingdom. Travelling by the train from London to Manchester, I had for company two middle-aged Englishmen who were seated opposite to me. Naturally, they did not speak to me – because we hadn’t been introduced. But I could not help overhearing their conversation.

‘How old is Tracy, I wonder?’ one asked the other. ‘Tracy!’ the other replied ‘Let me see – eighteen years ago he was three times as old as his son.’

‘But now, it appears, he is only twice as old as his son’ said the former.

Age Puzzle

Disha and her friend, Sapna once met at a party. Soon a fight broke out between the two while discussing their ages.

Said Disha,"I definitely am not older than 30!!!"

On hearing that, Sapna snapped back, "You're old enough to be my aunt. I'm exactly 28 and you are not less than 5 years older than I am."

Disha immediately yelled back,"Liar! I'm sure you're at least 29!!"
