Your grandfather, determined to start the year 1900 off right, went to bed at 7 p.m. on December 31, 1899, setting his alarm clock to wake him at 8 the next morning. He slept like a log. How many hours sleep did he get?
Ancient Coin Puzzle

A thief went to a shop that sold antique coins. He stole a coin from Emperor Alexander’s time that had 326 B.C. inscribed on it. These rare coins were worth $ 100 for every year of their age (years from date of minting till now). So how much did the thief get for his stolen coin?

As an entrance test for a particular university, you are given a corked bottle with a very small coin in it. Your task is to remove the coin without taking the cork out of the bottle or breaking the glass, or boring a hole in the cork or glass.
How do you pass the test and get the coin out?
Look at the shape below and answer the following questions on it.
1. How many triangles are there in the diagram?
2. How many rectangles are there in the diagram?
3. How many hexagons can you find?
4. Deduct the sum of the numbers in the rectangles from the sum of the numbers in the triangles.

When asked how many she had, she replied:
Son, I can't count past 100 but I know that.
If you divide the number of eggs by 2 there will be one egg left.
If you divide the number of eggs by 3 there will be one egg left.
If you divide the number of eggs by 4 there will be one egg left.
If you divide the number of eggs by 5 there will be one egg left.
If you divide the number of eggs by 6 there will be one egg left.
If you divide the number of eggs by 7 there will be one egg left.
If you divide the number of eggs by 8 there will be one egg left.
If you divide the number of eggs by 9 there will be one egg left.
If you divide the number of eggs by 10 there will be one egg left.
Finally. If you divide the Number of eggs by 11 there will be NO EGGS left!
How many eggs did the old lady have?
It was vacation time, and so I decided to visit my cousin's home. In the mornings, we both would go for a jog. The evenings were spent on the tennis court. Tiring as these activities were, we could manage only one per day, i.e., either we went for a jog or played tennis each day. There were days when we felt lazy and stayed home all day long.
Now, there were 9 mornings when we did nothing, 13 evenings when we stayed at home, and a total of 12 days when we jogged or played tennis. For how many days did I stay at my cousin's place?

Jimmy takes the underground train to work and uses an escalator at the railway station. If Jimmy runs up 7 steps of the escalator, then it takes him 28.5 seconds to reach the top of the escalator. If he runs up 13 steps of the escalator, then it takes him only 19.5 seconds to reach the top.
How many seconds would it take Jimmy to reach the top if he did not run up any steps of the escalator at all?
