The Problem of the Music concert

Recently I was at a music concert in Calcutta. I was sitting only one hundred feet away from the musicians.

The performance was being broadcasted. My sister Vasantha who lives in Bangalore also heard the same concert on the radio. I am sure you know that Bangalore is over a thousand miles away from Calcutta, and also that sound travels at 1100 feet per second.

Do you think there was any difference in the times at which the music was heard by Vasantha and myself? If so which one of us did hear the given note first?

  1. YES,MOHIT

I ALSO APPLIED THE SAME LOGIC AS YOURS.

  2. It is possible that the sister heard it first. If transmission is digital / optical, the waves are being carried at almost the speed of light.

So the brother is few hundred feet away, while sister is right at the radio.

So she may actually hear the sound before the brother does.

  3. live concert………….is live ur watching it instantly.
but even though the transmission is live………………..ther will be some delay. you can see the difference when u call in a live chat show in tv.so definetly u will be watching first ……………..by a few micro sec.
